Why is Meloetta less popular than Gardevoir?

Meloetta existed since 2010 but wasn't revealed to the public until 2 years later. Being event exclusive also hurts it allot.

Nintendo should stop this event only bullshit, these Pokemon should be in game and always available for capturing.
In events they should just give special versions of them with a different ability or maybe moves it doesn't learn, shiny etc.
