I caught an Omanyte by the beach the other day, and I'm wondering how long it'll take me to evolve it. Does it depend on location?

People like to say yes, and it makes sense most of the time to say yes, but there is no water in my area, but I've come across two. When I went to my friend's house, his lake nearby gave me 2 more Omanyte (on the map anyways), Staryu, and Goldeen. So I don't think location is as important as people think. Fossils are still rare as shit, so good luck evolving it, senpai.

Location influences spawn but isn't be-all end-all, I think.

I've noticed an abundance of water-types like Goldeen and Staryu at the beach, and I can't find them at all near home in the suburbs where there are many humanshapes like Drowzee and Jynx

Thanks. Figured it would be tough to find more, guess I'll probably be better off searching for the evolution outright.

Lucky fuck. Although I can't complain. Magmar hang around my suburbs every now and then. Although I haven't been able to get to one before it fucks off. Shame, because I'd love to have one.

Either that, or rely on eggs, which are just as fucked as trying to find one again in the wild.

All the water-types spawn near places with water. That can either be a beach or even just a water fountain at your local park. My workplace is opposite a park with a fountain and I saw a Kabuto (I couldn't catch it because I wasn't on my break).

I think eggs are based on location, too. Half of the ones I've hatched by the water have been Magikarp.

Location defintely helps but isnt everything. I have caught around 10 water pokemon in my home/town centre. But when near the canals or lakes which show as water on the map, I have caught solely water types (around 40) and a random machop

Shit same here.

>it's Pikachu

I don't think so

>nothing but eevee, exeggcute, and zubat show up

WHY
