That's the thing, though. Even if I max out my Kingler, here, he'll top out just North of 400, and I'm seeing 900+ Kingler holding gyms. My Vaporeon is XS, but even so, it still wouldn't break 900 maxed

Judging by how much he has left he looks like he could be 670~800 if the gauge filled all the way up
And it will keep growing. The point is to have your Pokemon grow as your level does. My vaporeon maxed out at 789 when I was level 9 but after a few levels he has a lot more room to grow

Ohhhh... So you get more potential gauge on pokes, as your trainer level increases?
... Interesting
>>
>>27103152
It's kinda like how when you get a badge you can control higher level Pokemon
>>
>>27103049
You have to level your trainer level to level your pokemon higher.
>>
>>27103183
Right...
That makes sense, now. I thought it was just people catching higher level pokes from the get go. I didn't realize the trainer level let you actually train the same mon up more.

Side question, how does weight and height affect mon growth and power, exactly?
>>
>>27103235
In no way shape or form. Weight is just a number. I tested it with 2 ratatas that had the same cp. The xs was actually stronger when it leveled up but only by 2 pts which I think is just because of how points are distributed. Just always go for higher Cp over weight
>>
Not op but I was wondering the same thing. Thanks anon.
>>
>>27103318
Strange, I figured it would affect them, somehow. I usually go for move sets over everything. Sucks that you can't tell what the evolution will have, though... My pidgeot has a garbage moveset
>>
So what I'm gathering is that I should use stardust on my strongest mons (300-400) to buff them to 900-1000 like everyone else?
>>
>>27103400
Yes, that is correct. But it always helps to find one with high CP so you can get a running start so to speak. It's also more worth while to only power up Pokemon once they are their final form
>>
>>27103400
Yes, but as your trainer level goes up, so does the maximum potential CP your pokes can attain. Say ratatta maxes at 300 when you're level 5, it might max around 500 when you're level 10 (random numbers, results may vary)
>>
>>27103400
No. Bide your time.

Stack stardust as long as possible. I didn't evolve any of my guys until level 12, and already the 720 Pidegeot that I spent so long beefing up is worthless because at level 15 I'm finding Pidgeys that have the potential to surpass him.

You want to hold out on evolving a good Pokémon for as long as possible, because chances are in a couple levels you'll find a better one. Only evolve when you're confident you have a mon who's CP won't be trumped anytime soon, and when you have enough candies to take it straight to its last stage AND Max it out. Otherwise you're better off waiting.

How much XP do you need per level, approximately? I know it increases every level, but do we know by how much?
>>
>>27103546
It goes up by 1000 every level

I was gonna ask about that, I couldn't check but I wonder if you powerup your Mon before evolving, wouldn't the CP increase when evolving be higher?

I mean, say I have a 250 CP Mon and evolve it and it goes to 500 CP, but if I powered it up to 300 CP wouldn't it evolve to say 650 CP thus giving you a better value for your stardust?

I tested out a lvl 89 and 90 rattata, powering up one first and then evolving, and evolving the other first and then powering up. The 89 ended up at like 263 and the 90 was at 265 or so, which makes me think they both increased proportionally and it doesn't actually matter if you power up beforehand or not.

if that's the case and it's cheaper to power up before evolving it seems like that's the way to go
