There isn't an official Android 4.4 update for my model of the Galaxy S3, but I found an unofficial way to upgrade it online. Should I try it or is it too risky? Also "can't play Pokemon Go" general thread.
Samsung phones are generally difficult to install non-official stuff on, so make sure you know what can happen and how to fix it if that's your primary phone.
I have a Samsung Galaxy s3 mini with 4.1.2 and im having the same problem. I guess im gonna try an unofficial patch, just gotta get my contacts and photos saved somewhere safe

Thanks for the warning anon

Just install Cyanogen already

S3 is the easiest to root, just Google it and root it via Odin, install a recovery and download a ROM and flash it. You can flash upto Android 6.0.1
Go over to XDA Developers forums for help.

Any suggestions for a new phone perhaps? something ~€400 and not Samsung. I'm not too fond of Samsung phones.

Just install the newest cyanogen, or install via APK

The new oneplus works great

Most of 2015's flagship phones are now below 400€.

Great specs, but shitty customer service (at least back in 2015) still the best phone you can buy for it's price
The APK of PoGo won't auto update, will it?
>>27085811
I tried the apk but it won't work since I've only got 4.3, but I'm about to try cyanidepill

Of course not. Unless you install it from the Play Store.

Alright thanks for the advice. To be more specific I'm looking for a phone with hardware buttons. I've had an LG in my hands once and it being entirely software buttons was kinda off-putting. That's why I'm still using a HTC actually
Anyone with a LG rooted? I've searched on the net and I didn't find anything past Android 4.2 for my E460.

How about the S4? Specifically the Verizon version. Last I checked, it was practically impossible.
