Mystic has the most experienced players, as most of Ingress's Resistance faction jumped ship straight to 'Blue Team'. They already know where the Pokesopts and Gyms are, because Niantic just flipped the data from Ingress.

From what I've observed, Valor is the antagonist mostly because they represent fire.
Instinct is protagonist because they represent the underdogs, just trying to survive.
Mystic is more of a neutral character content to observe, but eventually gets raided by the Valors so they team up with Instinct in a temporary alliance.
But all that could change today. Who knows.

Valor is the generic choice, for genwunners with fond memories of Red and nothing else. Instinct is the overly obsessed team that will likely end up running into traffic. Mystic is the team for both autists and the people who want to play but can't often. I chose Mystic, but when the next gens are pushed out, I'll probably make a new account and pick Instinct. Or maybe just Mystic again.

When I staryed all the gyms around here were Valor controlled, and Articuno is my favorite bird so I went with them.
Apparently everyone had the same fucking thought process because literally everyone else I've met playing in the last two days is also Team Mystic

Brooklyn seems pretty evenly distributed. The six gyms I can see on my map right now are two reds, a yellow, two blues, and one that has been flipping back and forth between blue and red for the last half hour.
