XY has the greatest battles of the 19 years of anime, but D/P is the best overall saga, Ash and his pokemon had more character development than XY Ash and his pokemon. XY is literally Ash Cena, pikachu sweeping the first gyms and memefrog pandering.
Each of every sinnohmon had their time to shine, unlike the frenchmons. Paul is better rival than Pokemon's Sasuke, he might not be as strong as him but he was a real rival.
And Infernape had a real bond with, the gay frog and Ash "love" is forced, and the kalos league is shit and rushed.

Every sinnohmon, even gible had special training, bond with ash, focused episodes, memorial wins/battles for their character development, and they were more than the frenchmons.
For the XY saga:
Talonflame: two amazing evolutions episodes, nothing else.
Hawlucha: asspull win against the autistic bugface
Noivern: Fighting zapdos, and those episodes when he learned to fly
Goodra: the best pokemon character of this saga.
