>Does this work
Only for ORAS. XY doesn't work.

>What speed
Playable FPS if you have a decent CPU.

>Crashes/bugs
There are several known crashes and random crashes but you can beat the E4 and Delta episode on this.
As of 2016-06-29 AVX and SSE4.1 builds come with GUI. I find AVX to be the fastest.

>What about the official build development news?
Citra Official is about to add cro++ which brings in support for ORAS into the official Citra albeit with the Petalburg black screen bug that the chink build has already patched.

the 3ds will possibly be the last "successful" nintendo handheld now that smartphones have dominated the handheld scene.

It's kind of worth it to get now especially as you can easily install arm9loaderhax + custom firmware if you're not a complete idiot. Then you can practically download and pirate every game on it.

Most normies are though and they'd much rather tap their way through shitty games. Just look at how Pokemon Go has taken off.

A large portion of the poorfags who possess the 'skill' to do the installation would probably prefer to get everything free while being babied by emulators and online battle simulators.
>>
>>27055717
The chink build actually runs pretty well. And the it's breaking the open source license the actual devs are using so I doubt they'd shill for it. They condemn posting links to it in a lot of places.
>>
>>27055346
>Citra Emulator Chinese build 2016-07-05-fix-batching
Do I need to unpack this on top of the previous build or what?

Also has anyone else run into the problem of the emu semi-freezing when entering the poke center in Oldale? The screen transition thing freezes about midway, the music keeps playing but it never goes forward from there. The only thing I can do is close the emu and then it will crash trying to do that. Using the 2016-06-29 build but I also tried a bunch of others I found online and they all have the same issue. Tried both ORAS from the kat.cr torrent.

Any ideas how to fix it? I don't want to try playing further if it stays that way.
>>
>>27056435
More like the devs are just assmad that someone rebranded their work without crediting them and improved the speed by 10 to 15 FPS and fixed some bugs then didn't release the source code.

It's like scanlator drama except they're trying to censor every mention of the chink build as if suppressing the superior version will make theirs better.

>>27056510
What version?
I started in Star Sapphire and moved to regular Alpha Sapphire after Mauville.
>>
>>27056526
>What version?
>Tried both ORAS from the kat.cr torrent

Do I need to do it with Star Sapphire for the beginning?
>>
>>27056568
I honestly don't know because I never played the first bit in anything other than SS. Someone made me believe that Star Sapphire was the only one that worked but I only found out later than AS basically worked perfectly.

That one looks like an SSE3 patch but I'm stilll on the 6-29 myself.
>>
>>27056568
*never had an issue with Old Dale though.
>>
>>27056591
>>27056618
Maybe I'll try one more time with the Star Sapphire rom. Did you try moving over to AS before Mauville? Any idea what's the earliest you can do it?
>>
You should be able to continue save files in any version though. All appear to be interchangeable, even OR and AS I think are interchangeable.
>>
>>27056681
In retrospect it was a good decision because Rustboro and Petalburg apparently have a black screening issue in Alpha Sapphire but not in Star Sapphire. I've noticed this whenever I use my eon flute and fly but no other city appears to be afflicted.

Before starting a new game try using the AS save file in SS.
>>

>Before starting a new game try using the AS save file in SS
Oh shit yeah I should definitely do this. Just a bit more left on the download. I'll report back what happens.
>>
>>27056681
>>27056729
Anyway it might be one of the GPU errors that wwylele refers to. Once the official CRO++ gets merged the devs (who hate pokemon fans) say they'll get a lot more pokemon bug reports which might help to get this fixed because right now barely anyone knows that Citra exists.

By 'switch from AS to SS' I just moved my save file (didn't start a new game.)
>>
Scratch that, it looks like the 2016-07-09 build with wwylele's rebuilt cro++ just dropped

Well Star Sapphire lets me into a pokecenter but I also found someone's save just before the Petalburg crash and ran back to see if it would let me in. It did, with Alpha Sapphire.

Now saving in a poke center with SS and trying to load it with AS gets me a black screen and a bunch of errors pic related. It makes me think it's trying to do networking but can't because it doesn't work and it hangs up because of that. But why does it try to do that with my saves but not the one I downloaded online? Also assuming that SS force disables networking because its a romhack and thats the reason my save works on it.

No matter what way you get into petalburg/rustboro in AS it will always black screen. Just use SS for petalburg and rustboro events. The only time you'll basically need to go back there is Delta episode.

Are chinese using Citra's source code making better builds than the original devs?
>>
>>27068980
It's just 10-15 FPS faster then builds recompiled with the same components from source and plays Pokemon better. Dunno about other games.

The devs on the official build think that they're either using source code or making other modifications or taking shortcuts.

Hm, and you're sure that the rom is in the correct format?
The Pokemon Alpha Sapphire-alt.3ds that I use came straight from the kat link.
Star Sapphire on the other hand must be converted (because I couldn't find an already converted 3ds version.)
When I was hunting down a good OR ROM I encountered a few that simply shat itself in the emulator.

I feel that the emulator is pretty untested/still rough so I don't know if plays nicely with everything. My Intel HD 520 and Nvidia GeForce 920M seem to give different messages from each other from time to time.

Put the ROM in the base directory of the converter first. The CIA ROM name is the ROM name not the directory (and I think that's usually the case with anything that looks like a command line prompt.)
>>
>>27070544
So once you have the ROM inside the converter folder your ROM name would be Pokemon_Star_Sapphire_v2.0_Legit.cia not C:/Users/Yorae/Downloads/Pokemon_Star_Sapphire_v2.0_Legit.cia

Use this converter just as the man says. (ignore his Citra, though, our Baidu Citra has citra-gcc-sse4.1.exe, citra-gcc-sse3.exe and citra-gcc-avx.exe each for different types of CPUs but in my experience at least AVX is the fastest and his version of citra looks generally old, buggy and shitty.)
https://www.sendspace.com/file/wwz8y0
>>
>>27070823
If you want the steps word by word:
>Put your copy of Pokemon_Star_Sapphire_v2.0_Legit.CIA inside the folder which is called 3DS To CIA Converter v4.1
>Double click on 3DS To CIA Converter.bat
>Input '3' (without quotes) to access the converter menu
>Start the CIA to 3DS converter
>When the converter asks for file name, put whatever your CIA is called. eg Pokemon_Star_Sapphire_v2.0_Legit.CIA
>When your converter is finished, you'll get a file called Pokemon_Star_Sapphire_v2.0_Legit.3ds or something. It just has a .3ds extension and that's the only file you care about

According to this guy, it's only in alpha sapphire Old Dale but star Sapphire is fine. I've never encountered any crashes going in and out of pokecenters myself.

I finished the game + delta episode and am currently at Battle Maison with the male character and the avoidable crashes you need to worry about are route 111 crash and the quintuplets (which you fight twice).

Bypass quintuplets by disabling HW renderer until you see the logo.
Bypass route 111 by giving yourself 8 badges, teaching one pokemon surf and go to where May is then remove the badges and the surf.
Emulator doesn't like tall grass much. There are no unavoidable crashes.

If it's only using up 4% CPU when a ROM is loaded maybe you have some malware on your system (eg a bitcoin miner) or your battery power isn't set to high performance/you're not plugged in (I know some asus laptops at least will deliberately limit FPS if they're not plugged in).

Also check your minimum and maximum processor state. If you see items such as 'Intel Thermal Framework' these are software designed to limit your CPU to reduce heat. But even then, 4720HQ clocks much higher than my puny CPU. Although I suspect that Citra might have some problems using multiple cores (but even then it should be higher than 5 FPS. Even on the biggest maps I get at least more than 4x that speed.)

Your processor has a passmark of 8074 and my processor has a passmark of 4320.

The thermal frameworks tend to show up in the power options.
Maybe the emulator just doesn't work well for some computers. No one really knows that Citra is working so I only know a few other people who've tried using it. Other than the chinks.

And presumably you've configured your GPU to work with Citra.

I also recorded at 60FPS so you can see the lack of 60FPS I get.

You've set this right?
Maybe the emulator just doesn't like your computer.

>"And presumably you've configured your GPU to work with Citra."
Yes I have done that in nvidia control panel, bound it direct to my 960M.

Only just realised that the baidu one was the only one bound to the nvidia gpu. The others weren't. Fuck there being 4 exes
>>
Cheers lads. It was a binding issue to the GPU. Only the baidu one in the video had correctly binded.

Running about 25FPS now, spikes at 6FPS in cases. It's still a very unstable game...
>>
>>27076471
I think it's also the issue of no JIT and I suspect that Citra can't use more than one core based on a chink saying no dual core on Baidu (maybe a good single core or good dual might work better for it for now.)

That sucks.

Maybe it runs more smoothly for me because every time I use Citra I blare my shitty music taste in music and disable the audio engine (I used to do it back in the DS emulation days because I was using a shitty laptop dual core 1.33 GHZ back before DeSMuME existed and I thought it would improve my framerate/battery life. I don't know if it's placebo but I now do it any emulator except if it can't handle playing my music and emulation at the same time.

So as the guy from early yesterday who first had the pokecenter crash problem in this thread. I saw the webm and though I'd try a boy character and see how it goes.

Well, no poke center crash on Alpha Sapphire legit rom.

For some reason the girl still crashes on it. One of these weird quirks of the emu so early on I suppose.
>>
>>27076594
Audio is placebo. Doesn't matter.
>>
>>27071375
why are you shaking so much anon? :(
>>
>>27076600
Oh.
Yeah there were reported girl crashes. I was using a girl (because of obvious reasons) but another user convinced me to switch to boy when they said that they hadn't had any crashes at all. (But I think I got past Old Dale anyway and was heading up to Petalburg.)

And by switched from girl to boy I researched it up and found out that there is no simple girl to boy flag and that you have to restart the file in order to make the switch.

So I made a new file, migrated across my pokemon into my boy file.
Beat Mauville gym, switched from Star Sapphire to Alpha Sapphire. Played Alpha Sapphire up until the Delta Episode. Realised I needed to go back to Rustoboro to initiate the Devon event, used Star Sapphire for that, almost got slaughtered by a few grunts with level 100 pokemon, switched back to Alpha Sapphire for the rest of Delta and finished it and accidentally killed my Deoxys.

So far I think all of the completed gameplays are boys. Apparently the girl can't leave Petalburg and has issues with Fiery Path.

You can move your pokemon between save files using PkHex.

Thought so. ;_;

I'm using a wacom as a mouse and the active area is tiny. Also I rerecorded it five times because IT KEPT SKIPPING THE NAVIGATING THROUGH THE FOLDERS so maybe there is any element of suppressed rage too. I do have shaky hands though, especially when I'm drawing lineart.
>>
>>27055999
Those models actually look really good. I stream WiFi battles on YouTube, so I hope it becomes easy to record battle videos through Citra so they look that nice.
>>
>>27076753
You'll have to wait for someone to make the 1080p or whatever they call that Citra hack which makes it HD mainstream. Apprently it barely uses any CPU to sustain, only GPU while Citra itself barely uses any GPU so you get lots of good graphics with no performance cost.

I assume it will only get harder to emulate consoles and handhelds from here on.
Props to the guys sticking so much time and effort into this over the years but more than 5 years later and still we have only a barely playable emulator. Dayum
>>
>>27076950
I think Nintendo makes emulating their shit hard simply because of the shit tier hardware they use.

The days of getting playable ROMs the same day that they get released are over. Wish they'd just fucking sell the games on computers and phones where I can buy them instead of having to go through these emulation hoops. I just don't give a single flying shit about any game on a Nintendo console even if I could pirate them all I wouldn't even attempt playing anything other than Pokemon.

I'm just happy that Citra is finally going somewhere after 5 years, indeed it can even work most of the time on at least one game I care about, but RIP emulation.

Does anyone had Rutile Ruby working with citra? I downloaded it myself and it doesn't start(unmapped read32 memory error). Pokemon Star Sapphire from op works fine. I just want to use Dragalge and Archeops.

Don't expect it to run well unless you have a powerful pc, its still very early in development.

Dude it's fucking illegal to use an GPL code w/o releasing the source code of any change you made to it.

Fucking chinks are disgusting in using the work of the Citra team and the community w/o sharing their code.

Anyone that supports them is scum.
