Why do people hate gen 5? What was wrong with it?
Pikachu isn't in the Unova dex. Kind of hard to get hold of a Charizard too, without cheats. Very scary stuff for oldgenners.

I love gen V for everything it did and every fullhearted attempt at progressing the dated formulas along with the obvious time, effort, love and lore that was blatantly inswrted but I just can't bring myself to rplay it because it is the ugliest gen ever made.
That's why anybody who hates it hates it. The region had literal litter everywhere (not talking about the Pokémon) the human overworld sprites were awful, and the designs you had to take a long time to start to like.
Even people who love gen 5 have two handfulls of Pokémon they find ugly

BW1 were utter shit because we were stuck with Gen 5 shitmons like Woobat, Watchog and the like, but BW2 were really great because while the new mons were all present, we weren't forced to use all of them, as well as having access to the better newmons earlier in the game.

Gen 5 is my personal favourite. Great music, starters, and regional dex. Stylistic sprites, Nice post game, and actually challenging bosses. All in all, a very solid 4 games.

The sprites are definitely shit and the camera can get pretty bad. Also BW wasted the visual upgrade by mostly focusing on the lame story instead of the region, a lot were salty about that back then and still are.

You got the right idea. Unova had a great plot and the largest amount of good designs of any generation, which would be fantastic if the game didn't lock out your old favorites and force crap like Shitboar and the Shitmonkeys on you instead.
