Some locations are imported from ingress, which lists the closest one and has the option to set a gps to guide you to the location, you can try downloading it and go to that point to see if it's actually a point in pokémon go too, it would save you the trouble of having to run aimlessly around the city looking for one
Also I wonder why pokémon go don't have an option like this from the get go, doesn't seem like something they can't do right now
