What are the most overrated starters ever and why are they the Johto starters. Oh, I'm sorry. Typhlosion and Feraligatr. I almost forgot not even Johtoddlers give a shit about Meganium. They both have such and bland and generic uninspired designs.

I think Charizard (and maybe Blaziken) is probably more ovverated than Typh or Feraligatr, but I agree that the Gen 2 starters don't really have much going for them.
Feraligtr actually has some function as a low tier set-up physical sweeper, and Scarf Typhlosion with Eruption was popular for a hot second back in Gen 5.
Not nearly as bad as the Gen 5 and Gen 6 starters (mnot including Greninja), though.

I love Gen 5 but fire pig is worst starter
I'm slightly bias because Johto was my first region, but Typhlosion is at least better than Flamecock and Furrybait, and I think it's better then Charizard too. Feraligatr is genuine well designed, and Meganium is cool too, better then Torterra and Chesnaught.

Absolutely. Oldfags who want to not be lumped in with facebook casual geewunners make gen 2 their favorite, because they consider it the cutoff for "TRUE Pokemon." Sinnohfoeti consider Johto their favorite because of HGSS's meme status and the fact that it was more tolerable than the trainwreck that was Sinnoh, and so seemed amazing to their young minds.
So you see a disproportionate amount of praise for gen 2, usually couched in valueless nostalgia qualifiers like "comfy" and "soul" and "atmosphere."

It feels like typh and gatr had some simple but pretty satisfying appeal to them, nothing too flashy but they missed out on being more outstanding, mostly Typhlosion though.
At least with Feraligatr it felt like a fresher mon as a starter, Blastoise was all about bulk in both ends meanwhile Feraligatr had a much more physical build.
Typhlosion was the same as Charizard statwise, and Meganiums just poor mans Venusaur.
Like a lot of gen 2 monsthat weren't just branched evos from gen 1,they felt really halfassed and just put in for the sake of filler without much thought into stats or anything, with rare exceptions like Heracross.

To me they're just simple, when compared to the Kanto starters, they're definitely not the most intricate things, a dragon that evolves from a salamander, a turtle that turns into a tortoise with cannons in it's shell, and a thing.
But that doesn't make their designs bad, unless you really dislike the animals they're based on.
