Fire/Poison is fine. It's also unique and we don't need another fucking Surskit situation on our hands here. Yeah, it would make it not x4 weak to Ground and exchange a water and rock weakenss for dragon and ice ones. But it's still weak to ground and is now just another fucking Dragon for Fairy and Steel to resist. The nice thing about being Fire/Poison with Corrosive is that it can still melt Steel types, because Corrosive seems to only allow Poison status, not remove the immunity of Steel-types to Poison attacks. It still benefits from a Fire-type.

They only showed off Toxic and the site specifically says it lets it "inflict the Poisoned status condition even on Steel- and Poison-type Pokémon." Nothing about being able to use Poison-type attacks on Steel-types or even anything about Abilities that prevent Poisoning.
We do have Scrappy, that's true, but Scrappy doesn't also remove a status Immunity, especially to one as severe as Badly Poisoned.There could be a move that removes Steels-type immunity to Poison moves, like Foresight and Miracle Eye, which would be fun and make it a bit more of a balanced thing for Salandit by making it use a move slot for it. But there's no reason to actually believe there will be one any more than usual.
