UPDATE FROM ITALY
Italy apparently comes and goes, but an Italian Pokétuber who is very often in contact with Nintendo confirmed some people who logged in with their Pokémon Trainer Club account actually got their account banned. We don't know if it is momentarily of definetely but it apparently is. I can give you source but it is in Italian with no subs.

I just took a nice long walk in a large forest trail that has a lot of landmarks with my S.O and got a lot of bug Pokemon, eevees, pidgeys, really basic stuff. We also passed by some spooky babbling brooks hidden in foliage where some ghastly were lurking in. I got lots of items and ended our walk as soon as the servers went down.
