I know people blame everything bad on reddit, but it's literally because of reddit. Their pokemon board moderators block people from making posts with SM and demand that people call it SuMo, all because of muh children.
Though I don't think it has spread anywhere but there. On /vp/ people use it just to piss people off, and on shitholes like the GameFAQs the general consensus seems to be that SuMo is retarded and SM is the way to go.
