This map doesnt lie to me in the amount of exploration available.
I can't climb those mountains or surf in those seas. In retrospec I kinda learned to appreciate gen 3 though since the biomes are nice and varied aside from that desert out of fucking nowhere.

I think the issue with Unova (and onward) is that there's these disconnected areas that fit into a certain category. Whereas with Hoenn and Sinnoh the region makes much more sense and feels more interconnected.

I have to agree... I must say that Sinnoh is the gen I played the least, but its region map is amazing, it looks so natural and connected. Unova looks so fragmented and simetrical, and Kalos continued with that fragmented trend.
