I think that two buttons can and will fit on the left side of the touchscreen. One for Mega Evolution and the other one for the new mechanic, which seems like it will be a 5th move. The Mega Evolution button will only appear for Pokemon with a megastone equipped, otherwise it will look kinda like OP's representation.

IPS screens have better whites and a better angle of view, but I don't know if there's any actual pattern on what n3ds' have ips vs tn screens. Some are both ips, some both tn, some mixed.

There is something I realized while playing Pokemon: If you play with charge plugged in, the screen becomes brighter than stage 5. is this normal and is this the same on n3DS. I want to know if I can expect a upgrade like DS and DS lite, from og 3DS to n3dsXL/n3DS, or do they just look like the same (both tn of course).

Bigger screen but same resolution.
My theory is that synchro is just mega evolution without the need for stones. You unlock it with Amie, and every existing mega now works like this.
