Not that guy but I just yesterday I was wondering if pokemon with the ability early bird were all birds. I knew the saying "early bird gets the worm" and it's meaning but I was just curious. When I saw all the pokemon that weren't birds I looked up the ability in japanese.
I don't even know nukespeak but it's become common practice to look up the japanese names for pokemon related things when the english doesn't make sense.

I think you have completely misunderstood the term. "Early bird" is short for "early bird gets the worm". It has nothing to do with waking up early in the morning or being a go getter. Its just the equivalent of "you snooze, you lose". It means that the person who is more aware and active takes advantage of opportunities the lazy miss out on. Other languages and cultures have similar sayings.
Nobody uses the term "early bird" for people, it's simply used as a short term of the whole saying. People who wake up early in the morning are not called "early birds" they are just called "morning persons" with the opposite being "night owls" for people who stay up late and wake up late.
