I thre together a picture of the number of Pokemon that debut in each region and the Pokedexes of each region.
What do you think Alola will be giving us?
We seem to be trending to larger Pokedexes, even ORAS Hoenn couldnt wait until postgame to give you the National Dex. I dont really like that, but I know a lot of people do.
I think that after the sheer amount Gen 5 gave us we'll be getting less for a while, so I'm guessing:
90 to 115 Pokemon
300 Pokedex

I'm hoping it trends back down, but we're getting 4 unique dexes for each island, so I'm expecting at least 400 mons, with about 100 per island.

I expect the islands to have different numbers, and the two most left islands dont look like they have enough locations for 100 mons without being Kalos-tier overstuffed.
I suppose it's not impossible for a bunch of the mons in a dex to be seen only and then catch-able on another island but I dont think that'll happen.

They'll probably want to end Gen 10 with 1,000 Pokemon, which averages out to 70 per generation.
Maybe we'll get lucky, and they'll cheat by putting 1,000 at the very beginning of Gen 10's dex, leaving us with ~93 per gen.

I'd say they plan to have Gen 10 be the 30th anniversary, and they'll start with 1000. Maybe we'll finally get the Kanto sequel then.

This is perfect because for the hard reboot on NX they can add 151 more, go to an even 1000 and have a mean to pander to the first generation AGAIN.

How are they going to fit 20~ routes and 8+ towns on that tiny map
113 would be great. It would bring us to 835 and still get us under the 1k mark for gen 8.

I'm expecting a Johto-like size, which I'm perfectly OK with. I even count about 12 towns in the map, which is also the number Johto has.
