Can we all agree that pokemon not obeying is the most absurd thing, especially since they either "turn away" or fucking fall asleep 95% of the time. Don't give me >muh realism, all I want to do is speed to the end of my firered to shiny hunt mewtwo for fucks sake.

It has nothing to do with realism.
It's a rule intended to add difficulty so you can't just trade for a lvl 100 and sweep the game.
