I don't think this is really a probability issue, it's about what Game Freak's strategy is going forward.
We very well could get DPPt remakes this gen but my guess is Game Freak wants to space out remakes a little more. Between the fact that they don't seem to be doing 3rd versions any more, which used to pad out gens, and DPPt having arguably much less nostalgia power than the first 3 gens, it wouldn't surprise me if they waited until Gen 8.
Plus there's also the NX to consider. If it's a handheld/console hybrid like some suggest then Pokemon will probably move to it at some point, but it's not clear what the NX really is and to what extent Nintendo will keep supporting the 3DS after it launches.
Last time we had a new system like this launch mid-generation was Gen 5 which shook things up with no remakes and a sequel so I think it's pretty hard to predict what's gonna happen.
We are not going to try a remake of DP until gen 8.
We only get remakes until we can't play the original gamed on the current handheld. We still can play DP on 3DS. When NX arrives and gen 8 releases for it, then we will have DP remakes.
