Aurorus' stats aren't really the problem. It has good bluk and base 99 or whatever Sp.Atk. The rel kick in the balls is GF deliberately tailoring the type chart against our favorite type.
Also Rock is an ironically terrible type, defensively. Ice/Rock is the objective worst defensive typing in the series ever.
