Nah, you get the analytic boost on switch-ins too, and it also discourages the opponent from using priority moves to bypass your speed unless they can confirm a KO. It's still not the world's greatest ability for it, but it's not bad either.

I think it's more giving Pokemon a move that only makes sense for their Mega and not for their normal form that's the problem. Like giving Pinsir Fly when it certainly can't fly without becoming a Mega, since that means regular Pinsir would still be able to use Fly which makes no sense at all. It's why abilities like Aerialate exist, to give Pokemon like Pinsir some reliable flying type moves to use when they wouldn't otherwise have access to them. Updating a Pokemon's moveset to include more moves that still make sense for their normal form but are perhaps more apt for their mega form is fine.
