at the moment it's just sort of two things put together. you need to blend the ideas more. it doesn't need to be so literal. i would also suggest that you spend as much time on the facial expression as you spend on the rest of the design.

I made this a while ago. Based on an old sprite edit i did like seven years ago (on the bottom there).
They're zombie street thugs that roam urban environments, and beat the shit out of each other in fighting game style tournaments until they literally fall to pieces. Then all the pieces come together to build it's evo. r8 comment and subscribe

I wanted a equivalent to Sudowoodo in MW; the idea of a moving object blocking you way and doubles as a Pokemon. Since MW's Luna Region is always night time I decided to go with a suspicious lamppost. In-game it looks like a regular lamp+signpost until you activate the event; the difference though is it gives off an aqua light rather than orange. Well that and it's blocking your way and you get a weird vibe from it...

I decided to revise my goldfish starter and give it a changed evo based on advice I got some time ago. Didn't want to do the final evo without seeing how this seems. The evo's tail is based on a tosakin goldfish's tail.

I remember seeing it in another fakemon thread. i thought it was retarded at first, then looking at all the different examples, i thought there was enough variation and distinction between them that it wasn't just the same rehashed thing over and over, and the whole 'glow' typing was pretty distinct and recognizable so it didn't just look like super-special-donut-steel fire types.

And by "Yokai watch" I think he meant a drastic stylistic departure from the series your trying to ape, which I think is legitimate criticism. And even if it wasn't, the fact that that guy responded to some of the images ITT but not all of them proves that he's picking up on something, and that some people will have certain reaction to a design is important for a designer to know and keep in mind.

Midnitez has two main problems. They legitimately don't want to finish anything because "they like working on it", and their artstyle is much more suited for Digimon, which they tend to design somewhat decently.
