Ah, I'll accept that criticism. I was trying to replicate the usual scientist/nerd trainer class team roster, which is chock full of steel and electric types. I'd probably swap out Metagross for something like Cradily or Kabutops, maybe. I think the fossils also fit the theme quite nicely.

Gastrodon's a pretty good fit, as is Quagsire, if you don't mind having another Ground-type. They're Swampert-lite in a lot of ways, with Gastrodon being a little more focused on special attacks while Quagsire is better at physical (and considering the look of your party so far you have more physical fighters than special, so Gastrodon might be a better fit). I can't remember if you can get Octillery/Remoraid at the point you are in the game, but Octillery's broad moveset is great for filling in any gaps left in your team. I notice you haven't got a Fire type on your team for example, so you could put Flamethrower on it or something like that.
