I love Tyranitar more than any other Pokemon but the thing is literally weak to most of the Pokedex, and that's without factoring in coverage moves. Rock/Dark is a horrifically bad defensive type combination.

"Kaupe is a malevolent spirit from Hawaii that calls out to people at night to lure them to their deaths. According to legend, he used to rule Nu'uanu Valley.

I've always seen Manectric as more of a coyote, but I could see it being a wolf too.
I think some people (like myself) would like to see a more classical rendition on the wolf species in a Pokemon's design.
Rockruff's evolution seemingly depending on the moon/on the sun going down hints to me that it'll be a beastly wolf or even a werewolf.
...maybe it will just stay a pure Rock type. It'd be for the better since every other type combo pretty much leaves it with a x4 weakness.
