Those names are not compound in Japan. Mr. Mime being a standout was an early localization choice, and one they wouldn't make now.
I forget who it was, but around the time of either DP or BW prerelease, one of the TPC dudes spoke to their desire to change or remove old mons, and that they couldn't because it was too established.
While it's not a 1:1, the closest example is probably Mewtwo, given the nomenclature involved.
Tapu Koko is the mon name, but it's also a title like 'the original dragon'. They just made them the same name.
