We didn't need a gen 3 remake. they should not hjabve even made a remake to gen 1 because nobody asked for it. But gold and silver is comnsidered the best game because they really did put their heart and soul into it because they thought it was gonna be the last game. Pokemon was meant to end with pokemon the first movie.
Ruby and saphire were shit and the remakes literally made them shittier. A lazy game made even lazier.

The third gen remakes were only made because the current gen hardware couldn't trade with the GBA carts. Of course no one really gave a fuck about gen 3 remakes, but it had to be done to keep up with trading between 7 different generations of Pokemon.

Even if we were to consider that RS didn't need remakes, the features added into ORAS were well worth it. Dexnav was incredibly useful, and having a few hidden pokemon on each route made catching 'em all a lot more fun. Mirage spots were pretty nice as well, and I don't think they would have worked as well in Kalos.
