Does anyone else hate the new starters?
We already have several cat pokemon, an owl, and a seal. Such a missed opportunity for better pokemon. Like a dolphin water starter would be nice but no they had to give us that retard.
Only one I really dislike is Litten, he looks like a Yokai, the rest are top tier.

We've had multiple of a lot of popular animals. Guess what! You can take the same animal and go different directions with it to get completely different pokemon. I think the starters are the best we've gotten in a while actually.
A dolphin is a bad choice for a starter since it can't move on land, and Poppolio is amazing.

Because the gameplay would be broken otherwise. A Starter pokemon is supposed to be a companion that can accompany you through out your journey. A fish wouldn't make sense in that regard and neither would a dolphin. Sea Lion/Puppy hybrids can move on land however.

They are not starters that they have to make sure they are able to animate naturally anywhere. It's not a coincidence every water starter so far is some semiaquatic animal instead of a fish.

I hated them at first but now I just hate Litten because I hate housecats. Poppolio reminded me to much of Oshawott but I'm getting over that since Sea Otters =/= Sea Lions and Rowlet is starting to grow on me.

Who cares if the animals starters are based off of have been done before? There are a lot of basic animals that have been reused like dogs, cats, birds, fish, snakes, monkeys, rodents, etc. Starters don't necessarily need new concepts just because they're starters.

Except all the pokemon we have of these species are goddamn awful.
For instance, Delcatty is the owner of the third worst ability in the game, Persian hasn't been anything but meh outside of Gen 1 much to my chagrin, and Liepard is awful.
On the same note, Noctowl is highly disappointing, and Seel and Dewgong have what we'd call absolutely garbage stats.
