Genwunners have ruined pokemon. When pokemon started to try new things and incorporating more story driven elements,what do the genwunners pissbabies do? Complain,of course! So what does gamefreak do? only the most genwunner,nostalgia boner stroking game in the entire pokemon franchise. The programmed first encounter pidgey,the free kanto starters... the list goes on. It makes me sick when gamefreak bends over backwards for dumbass casuals that abandoned the series over stupid reasons. I just wanna grab them sometimes and say "STOP PANDERING,THEIR NORMALFAG MONEY IS'NT WORTH IT"
Hopefully this bullshit will stop once and for all with Sun and Moon. I just wish that gamefreak was just a bit more confident. And yes,I know that the end goal of any company is to make money,but is it worth the price of creativity? hopefully not,hopefully not.

Gen V may not directly reference kanto much but a lot of the pokemon designs are essentiall the same archetypes as Kanto pokemon, beyond just the ones they do every region.
Fighting type nonevolving duo, two lines of bugs where the middle stage is a cocoon one of which beign a poison type, a normal type bull, hell, even Kyurem Zekrom and Reshiram are the same types as Articuna, Zapdos and Moltres, just replace flying with dragon.

There's literally a cave called Zubat roost and whenever I go through there I only seem to run into whismurs and meditites.

I do actually like Buhu and I think Coughkoff or whatever its called would probably fit in with the gen 1 poison types.
Yokai Watch and Pokemon have very different design aesthetics which can make it hard to compare the two, but overall I do feel Pokemon has much more appealing designs than Yokai Watch.
