Gen 3, its harder because a lot of the towns and cities have their own upsides but Fortree cuz tree houses.
Gen 4, same as gen 3, but Snowpoint for having a cute gym leader.

Gen IV/V, despite the rough start with DP, were overall the solidest grouping of games in the series. The DS games did a goddamn ridiculous amount of things right.

>The best third entry in the series with Platinum
>The best remakes with HGSS
>An excellent pseudo-reboot with BW
>Possibly the most well-rounded game with B2W2
I personally enjoy BW the most of those four, but I thoroughly love all the DS games. It was a damn good era, one that brought to mind the overall quality of the Game Boy era, and the 3DS era is letting me down so far.
>>

>>
>>26908535
Sorry man, im a bit drunk, ill be sure to remember for the future tho thx.
>>
>>26908543
Personally, as someone who had been with the series since Gen 1, I found BW so amazingly refreshing that it reignited my love for the series which had, up to that point, been growing stale. The love, that is, not the series. A Regional Dex comprised ENTIRELY of new Pokemon, nearly all of which appealed to me. I know it's a subjective thing, but apart from perhaps some of the early mons, I love almost every Gen V design. The slightly more mature tone it took and the more story-focused nature of the plot also appealed to me, as an older Pokemon fan.

I of course understand BW isn't for everyone, and I even accept that B2W2 are objectively better polished, but BW hold a special place in my heart and will probably always be my favorite games in the series.
>>
>>26908520
Anon from >>26908399

I thought BW was a massive departure from the series as it stood, what with them being a pseudo-remake And it being my first legit playthrough after bullshitting my way through Platinum with an action replay, I was horribly unconfident in myself OK? , but I thought it had a better story than BW2, mainly due to the former establishing the story opposed to the latter just building off it.

But overall, I still think that BW were something of an awkward transition era between the DS and 3DS systems. a Pokemon puberty, if you will.
>>
>>26908571
The Pokédex was the best part for me.
>>
>>26908606
I find that ironic, since Gen 6 seems to be the generation that doesn't know what to do with itself. Does it want to do something new with Fairties and Megas? Does it want to appeal to nostalgia or feel like a full loop with the MULTIPLE Gen 1 references? Does it want to be uninspired cash-in garbage with ORAS? Is it going to make a mature story with Lysandre and Pokemon genocide? Is it going to be childish with the friends? It contradicts its own tone and theme so much that it comes across as haphazard, loosely sewn together. A bunch of ideas that don't quite mesh. For that reason, it fails to be memorable on the whole, despite a number of singular memorable moments.

I will say that BW was a transition era too, it was pretty good, but to me personally, BW2 just seem more complete, I love all the
pokemon more so than the gen 5 pokemon, so getting that chance to play with them was great. So i guess that BW2 was for those still wanting the older and the newer pokemon more was BW2 while those ok with leaving them behind was BW. It's a great discussion tho anon.
>>

>>
>>26908644
I can see that. But Gen VI seems memorable not for its story or lore, but for its additions to game mechanics, namely Mega Evolution. It sort of says, "Here's what the Pokemon series can do on the new hardware." In retrospect, I'm thinking it acted as sort of a foundation for Gen VII, or at least I hope it will, anyway. Sort of like DP were for the DS.

BW, however, felt like huge alteration to a groove that the games had established. Completely new Pokedex with no earlier pokemon present, relatively darker environments compared to the past games - as far as I remember it anyway, maybe because of the seasons system - and a generally less comfortable setting. It just felt like too much of a departure.

BW2 helped this a bit by reintroducing old Pokemon, but it felt like something of an expansion pack versus a remake of the previous two versions.
>>

>>
>>26908784
I rather liked the newness introduced in Gen V. I find it rather incredible that the one single generation that introduced essentially nothing big mechanically managed to feel singularly unique in a way no other games before or after them were. It wasn't just "Pokemon: Now With New Feature;" it was "Pokemon: Reloaded." Virtually identical on a mechanical level to gen IV, not all that different graphically, but ENTIRELY different at a base level. As I said before, I found it refreshing, and I liked the changes. Others may not have, and that's likely why Gen V is such a point of contention on this board.

I also hope, by the way, that Gen VI serves as the DP to Gen VII's Platinum. It's not as though it was a BAD set of games-- it was just an extremely weak set of entries in a great series with far too much wasted potential.
>>
>>26908433
You're an unovabortion, it's as simple as that
Both were terrible
>>
>>26908904
Hey, were trying to have nice thread her, like discussing why ONE might think the other is bad while one is better. Please contribute an argument or leave.
>>
>>26908863
Agreed on all accounts. It's just that massive feeling of difference between itself and the last Gen that made BW so unique. It was an entirely new level in what the Pokemon series could accomplish in both its environments, story, and general aesthetic. But that level of unfamiliarity is what made me avoid it at first, and probably what made it so controversial on the board.

By that same token, Gen VI could be considered Gen V's opposite, in a way. Kalos' regional pokedex is absolutely MASSIVE, the biggest one to date. It also had an equally big impact mechanically, what with new breeding mechanics, the fairy type, and Megas. Aesthetically, however, all it did was update sprites to models, and added a camera for cutscenes. X and Y were huge improvements to the series, but didn't really put on much of a show. Again, it just was like, "Look! Pokemon in 3D!" - which is by no means a bad thing, I mean, take a look at Pokemon Stadium - it just didn't have a lot of stuff to present other than mechanics.
>>
>>26909086
Couldn't agree more with you, BW was too diffrent at the time, but over time it grew on me, XY were to large scope for me to play for long, it just showed me thing I'd either seen, in stadium or new things that were present in ORAS, which just got boring with no rematch or BF. >>26908520

It's fast mechanically. Quick battle transitions, quick text, quick attack animations. Not a lot of fluff, thanks to the technical limitations. It doesn't waste my time and leave me impatient. And yes, not a lot of story compared to something like gen 6, either.
