Thoughts on the movies?
I both like and lament that they are mostly stand-alone. Characters and other elements are almost never revisited again. It gives them some sense uniqueness, but it may also leave one wanting more and never getting it.
I recently watched the Manaphy movie and I wanted to learn more about the water people and their remaining decendants; I found the emptyness of the abandoned underwater city off-putting and felt there was a story that was left untold. Maybe it was better left to the imagination, maybe not. Regardless I don't expect anything from the movie to make a comeback at this point. Oh well.
