Loved HgSs, loved those touching moments when your pokemon did something cute, i loved the music(best sound track of all the pokemon games to me) i loved how your rival wasn't a mushy cunt until the very end, i love the level system, it provides just the right amount of challenge and if you grind enough you can sweep the e4.
Yes voltorb flip was shit, i always played it for days to get dratini, and phone calls could just be ignored, and you could lower the volume, so unless you have autism and have trouble seeing something pop up suddenly, it wouldn't be a problem. And Omega ruby was exquisite

You do get Route 32 'mons early though, so that's nice. The addition of the Safari Zone was also cool, but have fun grinding 6-8 levels on whatever you catch so they're useful.

It was such a huge change that it was damn near culture shock.
Ruby and Sapphire had a fucking FRACTION of content that Gold and Silver did, and you couldn't even get all the Pokémon in it.
So fans of Johto in particular were incredibly turned off of Hoenn.
And that's just the fans of Johto.
There's also all the usual complaints like the shitload of water, ect ect, that MOST fans hate.
Then the reason Hoennbabbies are hated nowadays is because they shitposted non-stop. Kids who grew up on Gen 3 were pretty much in the age range of underageb& right up until OR/AS launched where the average kid playing Gen 3 would finally be around 18, which means that Hoennbabbies are pretty much known for being underage /v/ tier shitposters who shit on other games non-stop.
You can claim "J-Johtoddler!" all you like, but NO group of Pokémon fans even comes CLOSE to the level of shitposting that Hoennbabbies do. Hoennbabbies tend to lash out at fans of Gen 2 and 4, because they feel neglected that people didn't like their "ugly duckling" Gen. So they shit on the predecessor, and the successor, because there's no real way of defending Gen 3. You are NEVER going to convince someone that there wasn't too much water, even if you, for some fucking reason, didn't mind it.

You can laugh all you want. HG/SS are the highest quality and most polished games ever released, with by far the most content. The only games that you could MAYBE argue hit that same level of quality and content, is B2/W2, in which case it really depends whether you think Unova holds up against Johto/Kanto. IMO I think they're about equal. Both with minor flaws, but still miles ahead of any other Pokémon game to date.

I understand that in the originals new mon where to be found, because they where new. This is simply a result of being a sequel. In the remakes they should have been more generous with the gen II mon
In BW2 I was surprised at how close the Plasma Grunts where to my level on a casual run through. In HGSS they're so massively under powered it borders on laughable

For the record they could have easily retconned this like they did with several things within the game. For one changing Pokemon Tower made no sense because
1) They were desecrating the graves of the Pokemon buried there
2) Fuji was opposed to anyone causing a ruckus there why would he let that happen?
3) What about the Pokemon that lived there and the actual Pokemon ghosts?
4) The new grave site couldn't possibly hold every Pokecorpse so did they just throw them out?
