I don't know how it could be implemented with Pokémon, except going the Alice in Wonderland route, like you use Abo as a club and Sandshrew as a ball (watch out for the tricky Voltorbs that sometimes come), but I definitely wouldn't mind a golf mini-game.

It's a golf themed gym/leader. You have to beat 8 trainers before you get to the leader and they all use ball shaped pokemon. If you one shot them, you hear applause once you leave the battle
