Or the Arceus you have could just be made by THE Arceus. You don't have God, you have Jesus. It's why you're able to catch it and order it about, and why other pokemon aren't just wiped from fucking existence by it looking in their direction. It's just a weaker avatar of the real thing. The pokedex isn't wrong about Arceus creating the world, but the Arceus you caught can't do any of that shit. It can tap into the power to create a pokemon, but even then it needs the help of the unown.

In the beginning, there was a little boy and his pokemon. When the Aether was young, they too were young. Tragically, the boy slipped from the edge of reality, and fell into nothingness, his physical form dashed against the comets.
His companion wept in grief. From his tears came the world, a great soaring orb of water. His tears became matter. And from death came new life. The boy became the sun and the stars, and color shone across the once blank void.
And so, the pokemon created four companions of his own. One to rule time, one to rule space, one to rule death, and one to become life.
