We know probably about over 30 new Pokémon, 22 (23 with Marshadow) are confirmed.
But we know about Tapu Koko and the other three guardians and probably a new rat Pokémon.

Since some old pokemon are confirmed and its an odd numbered gen, I'm crossing my fingers for a gen 3 tier roster. Also, Gamefreak are done with working on 3D models for the previous 720+ pokemon so they have all time to make as much new quantity as they please.

Isn't trumpcat possible to have only one stage? It's an early route mon for sure, but it's not the region's ratmon...something else that it preys on is.

I love how people assume Yungoos has an evolution and Pikipek and Grubbin have two. It was clearly stated, that the Pokédex not only previews the evolutions but also related Pokémon. To give you an example: Illumise's entry would preview Volbeat and Durant's entry would preview Heatmor.

Many new pokemons and some old ones for nostalgia. Too bad we won't see this anymore. The gameplay implies that there will be again ~450-500 in the regional dex which would be cool if at least 200 are new mons.

It's confirmed that Yungoos hunts a new Pokemon. It's dex entry was hidden at E3 for a reason. Judging by Hawaiin history and GameFreak being accurate to culture and stuff so far, it's gonna be a rat.

Nah. It'll be the four island guardians as a new legendary trio (or quartet, in this case), and will probably serve under Solgaleo/Lunala like the Lake Trio did to Dialga/Palkia.
Zygarde is probably tied to Solgaleo and Lunala by some alchemy lore, but most likely not to a large degree.

So that's 31 "confirmed" Pokemon at most right now. Out of the ones revealed, not counting legendaries, we haven't seen any Electric, Fairy, Psychic, Dark, Ice, Dragon, Fighting, Ground, Steel, Ghost or Poison types. Hopefully every type will get at least a couple of Pokemon lines, with some like Water or Grass getting at least three or four new lines considering the type of region Alola is. I think somewhere around 90 Pokemon is the safest bet and what we can actually expect to get.

Best case scenario, the regional dex is 200 pokemon like Hoenn. But I think we will have more of a Sinnoh like distribution, especially if fucking Eevee and its 8 evolutions are in the regional dex. That's 9 spots right there. Kanto and Johto bugs makes 10, pikachu line makes 3, krokorok line is another 3, pangoro line is another 2, salamence line is another 3, meowth line is plus 2.
So we have a dex size of at least 63 pokemon plus the inevitable 3stage psuedo line. That's 66 pokemon confirmed for the region already.
Best case (200 pokemon), we know a third of the dex. Worst case (150 pokemon), we know 44% of the regional dex already.
