the rivals are what pissed me off the most
trevor tierno and shauna all looked fucking ridiculous and were complete pushovers in the whole 2-3 battles you had with each of them
and serena was just... underwhelming when compared to the other rivals that picked the starter that has an advantage against yours,
hell some of her pokemon don't even have a full moveset in the last battle w/ her and the rematches

Even with the exp share on you have to grind like an autist to hit level 81 against the champion.
It seemed like they had their hands full with the transition to 3D and some things took priority over others. Its the same reason why the first games of a new gen are normally the worst.
