What ever happened to the RP threads on /vp/? I kind of miss them. The rules don't say anything about them.

Which ones
>>
>>26856438
All of them.

Which makes me wonder, besides being gay and annoying, is there anything barring me from being a namefag and spamming the cry of a pokémon?
>>
>>26856465

Spam is against the rules.

GR6 is a catch-all for things that "technically don't break the rules!" but are still cancer.

I forgot how to link to rules, I think one of these are correct.

Got shitposted to death because they were cancer. It wasn't even "Rp" anyway, just retards name-fagging as Pokemon and typing out embarrassing garbage.

Fa/tg/ut here. I'm envious of you guys for finally getting rid of shitty rp threads, we're unfortunately still plagued by them.
>>
>>26856674
Remember that time the "Pokémon Are Real" RP tried moving to /tg/ after /vp/ unanimously told them to fuck off? That thread was a goldmine.
>>
>>26856617

You mean SaD threads? Those faggots have an IRC if my memory's correct.
>>
Please stay away. There are other outlets besides /vp/ you can utilize for this.

we had those since the board's creation ,where'd they go?

Yeah and their IRC is shit

One of the mods is a literal kid and shits drama out the ass

It's because RPs are cancer

Everything on /vp/ is cancer.
>>

Yes. And when even this cancerous shithole unanimously agreed RPing was too cancerous to be allowed here, it's a pretty good indicator of just how turbocancer it is.
>>
>>26858696
>unanimously
>>
>>26858499
No, we got a new mod, that, when asked about it, threw an autistic hissy fit.

>>26858777
Exactly. It was usually one or two people at a time bitching about the threads existing, sometimes linking homosuck threads to the RPs.

Was a participant in the TRRP since 2010, it had been falling apart during 2014 and 2015. One of the bigger DMs left, things slowed down, a handful of other regulars left a bit later, and then after the conclusion of a plot that had stretched on for several years with little progress, the biggest participant, and probably the best writer left. We were trying to get it going again but this one autistic oldfag started doing a super railroaded story that suddenly made the entire thing feel like a chore and no one liked it, and that's when the new mod stepped in.
>>
>>26856381
As much as I enjoy them as well, /vp/ isn't a good place for roleplay.
Most people consider the TRRP threads the pinnacle, and even those were only a step above all the others in terms of quality.
At best, the threads were a gateway into the community, for better or for worse. I know a few people whose introduction to the scene is through those threads, without which they never would have fallen into the crowd.
On the other hand, it's also a gateway for total spergs and thatguys into the community, there are definitely a handful of people that I wish had never found them.

tl;dr I miss them, but I'm glad they didn't stick around forever.
>>
>>26858959
This is pretty much what happened.

I am another longtime player in those threads, probably the one non-DM that stuck with it the longest. I stayed as long as I did primarily to resolve my own plotline, which had been shoved to the back burner twice when more pressing in-universe matters came up. Given that the remaining three plotlines didn't intersect much and when they did it wasn't intuitive, it was hard to figure out exactly what was going on, not to mention resolving EACH of them took a year. Once I did, I was content to let the threads die, because by then everyone else had left and there was nothing else to do anyway.

Said oldfag writes what he writes very well, but he tries to force certain things from other media that don't really work well in the Pokemon world.
>>
>>26858777
>>26858959
Just because only a few people regularly complained doesn't mean there weren't more people who felt similar, and just stopped trying because they had mod protection for such a long time.

When the subject was eventually brought to /qa/ the majority of people in those threads spoke against it.

Though, if the threads were already falling apart at the time that must have made it easier. I did notice it fell more easily than the Pokémon-Are-Real threads, those were a bigger bitch to get rid of.
>>
>>26859146
>majority of people in those threads
Well of course, why would they post in the threads to defend it, aside from one or two of the RPers themselves? Anons on /vp/ who didn't care one way or another would have no reason to post there.

>>26859126
Mike, no one cared about your power suits, stop apologizing.
>>
>>26859181
>why would they post in the threads to defend it

Because complaining about something on /qa/ has a small chance of a moderator doing something about it. It worked for TRRP, it worked for Pokémon-Are-Real, and it worked for Gardevoir General, though that one was much more difficult to get rid of since it had more people going to those threads to defend it.

Most /vp/ users don't go to /qa/, but that more people who do complained about it than defended it, even after shitposters started linking the /qa/ threads to the relevant /vp/ threads to stir the pot more, is telling.
>>
>>26859221
You're agreeing with me though, that people who disliked it were the ones going and posting on /qa/. It's called vocal minority, but because of that we don't know just how much of /vp/ was indifferent.
>>
>>26859260
I honestly don't think we should account for completely indifferent opinions, though. It's like people who don't vote in elections.
>>
>>26859276
True, but on the other hand, it's a lot less likely that anyone was paying attention who didn't go out of their way to hate it.
>>
What if we start an entirely new RP?
>>
>>26859311
If my favorite circlejerk (which I won't name) got attacked I'd try to defend it, at least after it gets to the point where mods are deleting the threads.
>>
>>26859181
I had preferred to avoid going into detail about that, but there's no sense hiding it now.

From the beginning we were not averse to introducing crossed-over elements from other franchises, though they still had to make sense in the world of Pokemon. It didn't take long for that rule to get marginalized and eventually discarded, and it ended up reaching a point where we were only tangentially related to the Pokemon franchise. This, combined with the general lack of direction after our initial DM stopped DMing, contributed to the threads dying a slow death by declining quality and interest.

>>26859260
It's really hard to take someone's opinion into account when they don't express it.
>>
>>26859321
>which I won't name
It's the phoxthreads, isn't it?
>>
>>26859321
We sent a representative iirc, to /qa/. Then when the mods started deleting, we sent someone to the irc, where the mod in question started kicking and screaming about global rule 6. But by that point it was that single plot thread that no one liked.
>>
>>26859317
There's nothing stopping you, I'm sure there are plenty of people who still want it.There are two main problems, though.
The shitposters who feel the board should only be showderp, leaks, smogon hate, and waifu threads,
And the RP thread oldfags who will shit all over your thread because it isnt as good as they remember the old ones being. Seriously I can't believe how many of the oldfags are actually like that, I always thought it was just newfags trying to be cool.

There actually is one we started. We just haven't made a thread on /vp/ in two months, but it's still going strong.

Character listing and other things can be found from there. The actual way we RP is pretty easy to get into, GMs are the only ones with the tough job.

And we have a Discord here. Check it out if you want, we'll be glad to see ya. We might even get another Quest going soon. https://discord.gg/0uilyL4wcHEFCjE6

The group we made isn't subject to any of those though. And it's not tightly-knit or anything yet.

We just need some people who know what they're doing in here. Me and some others have been doing what we can to make things up and be the best DMs we can be in quests, but we have no actual /tg/ experience so things are still a bit of a mess. I'm willing to spearhead things still, but we need some help from those who know this stuff. Rules that need to be ironed out.

But even if not, we have this RIGHT NOW. >>26859365
This is the answer to this thread. As for new characters, though again we've been pretty messy, a consensus we've had is for new trainers to start with at most two Pokemon, one at most lv30 and the other at most Lv15. Of course many of us are far above that now, but leveling can be fast. Veteran trainers are fine too, but a lot of our RP has been centering around the kids.

Hard to say, since some people just aren't around, but it feels like we have at least 15 active. The more organized we can get ourselves and the more promising we can look, the better things will get, but right now we're not looking bad either.
>>
>>26856381
While I never used the RPs, I felt like they were fine on this board, especially considering they were not even near the worst things.
I defended them for a while on /qa/, but got nowhere.
