Because Pokemon is, and has always been, a game for children. This means many things, both good and (mostly) shit, but part of it is that most of the target audience is expected to age out of it within the space of a single generation.Whether that actually happens is a different matter entirely, and really shouldn't have as much of an impact on Game Freak's decision making process as it does.In order to make it possible for each cohort to "catch 'em all", then, Game Freak has gone of their way to make it possible for every Pokemon to be captured within the space of a single generation of games.
Unless something big changes, it's only going to get more ridiculous from here. Hopefully the phasing out of the old guard at Game Freak brings a different direction to Pokemon, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

This is really a big problem that Game Freak has. Instead of doing research on the demographics of their base and acting accordingly they just assume that it's always going to be a new group of kids and just about every game now is dumbed down just a little more than the last. Like every fucking time they talk about how most people will be playing the games for the first time but I've never seen any evidence of this. Is there any other developer that is this out of touch with their base?

BW2 were the 8th and 9th Pokemon games for the DS, XY were the first two Pokemon games for the 3DS. No surprise that the former were overall better than the latter, especially given how big of a jump it was to go from DS to 3DS.
Also 6 Pokemon teams are actually really rare. You get the Champion, a rival battle or two, and Magikarp man and that's usually it outside of rematches if I recall correctly. Ghetsis and N were the first evil team bosses to use full teams, and Gen V also had Cynthiaand the legendary Veteran Shaunon top of that, which made X and Y all the more jarring... especially since they lacked rematches.

Anon put it a little off but what I guess you could say is that if you took the average Pokemon per trainer for BW/2 and compared it with XY you would find very different results. That's also not counting how dungeons for legendaries among other things were scrapped (Birds were "roaming but eventually settled down in a single room cave, Mewtwo, Xerneas/Yveltal which basically had a few lines of lore and were obtainable after a short series of easy battles, compared to HGSS as another anon said or even fucking ORAS got it right ffs). Add on to that the fact that routes were shorter and you never had to go far until the next Pokecenter, dungeons were lowered (other than Victory Road and maybe Reflection Cave they were all a joke), gyms felt a lot shorter, and encounters with Team Flare were pretty half assed (a couple of brief encounters including one that should have been large because of the total size of the power plant but they got around that by locking most of the buildings). Not even going into difficulty here, but you can tell that they really cut out the amount of actual content and replaced it with filler text to give the impression of more to do.

I don't expect GF to solely focus on people my age who have been playing for 20 years but it's a little insulting for them to celebrate 20 years and not at least recognize that some of us who got the game on day one exist. If anyone's the child it's you who is complaining that people are not happy with how Gamefreak is running things. Why am I obligated to approve of every decision? I choose to pay for the games, or I don't. I don't owe them anything. They don't owe me or anyone else anything, but they may want to be careful if they want to keep our business because nothing lasts forever.
By your logic, since anyone would enjoy some game I guess no one ever has a right to be upset about something. Gamefreak has never said anything about meeting specific fan demands other than perhaps for making ORAS but with regards to the actual game they've done nothing but do the opposite of what people ask.

I said nothing about the game being too easy, what I said in other posts was that they've been cutting content from the game and that's a bad thing not because it makes it easy because the game can still be easy and fun, but the lack or even any effort required is taking all of the fun out.

Reason they do it is to make sure you can catch every pokemon in each gen, so that kids don't have to play 4 different games to get their favorite legendary pokemon. You think about it, say Mewtwo was only available in FRLG and not HGSS/XY. You'd have to play through FRLG, THEN play through DPP/HGSS, THEN BW/2, and then pay $5 for Pokebank to transfer it up to XY/ORAS. Even assuming you bought the games used, that over a $100 investment and almost 120 hour playtime to get a mewtwo from gen iii. No normal 8 year old kid would go through that. They're making the games easier because kids won't play through one whole game. Or, you can stick it in a cave in XY.

I don't think this really holds true anymore, what with the whole Global Trade system, Wonder Trade and so on. Any Pokemon from Gen 3 onwards can be traded up, and in Gen 7 you can even transfer from Gen I ports. If a kid wants a Mewtwo he can just trade for it, they don't need to shoehorn every legendary into every gen anymore. I know that technically it won't work in the long run because of hax but it might be nice if they at least ATTEMPTED some scarcity of legendaries in the next few generations
