I want to eventually start making mono teams for every type. What are some stuff you guys recommend?
Dual type is fine, also it doesn't have to be competitive or anything, it's just for fun anyway but if it's viable that'd be great.

Probably the most important thing for a monotype team is type coverage. You need a strong answer to every opposing type, especially if you'll be facing other monotype teams. A bad type match-up can be a quick loss for you.

But as for viable mons, check out Smogon's Monotype discussions. It is quite possibly their least cancerous meta, and the viability and cores they talk about are solid choices.

I'd say Flying or Water, since those two are mixed with almost everything.

In Flying you have Gyarados, Skarmory, Gliscor, Salamence, Dragonite, Charizard, Talonflame, Staraptor and the others Normal / Flying, Honchkrow and Aerodactyl, to name just the more prominent.

Water had of course the same Gyarados, Kingdra, Gastrodon, Milotic, Politoed, Kabutops, Ludicolo, Quagsire, Jellicent and of course, the starters, where Feraligatr, Swampert and Greninja are the more prominent.

Easiest one to do is probably mono water in Hoenn.

Swampert/Ludicolo/Sharpedo/Walrein/Milotic/Lanturn/Wailord/Crawdaunt/Starmie

Barring HM slaves, is it even possible to beat every game with every type? Is there, for instance, a Ghost type that can learn Rock Climb in gen 4? A Flying type that learns Rock Smash in gen 3? I've always wondered about this, but haven't bothered to put in the work to find out.

Just my OCD acting up. Atk IVs are minimised on special attackers to minimise confusion and foul play damage. I do the same on physical attackers for symmetry.
Also just noticed I put Miracle Seed instead of objectively better Grass Gem on Abomasnow.

Poison is fun.
Drapion, Mega Venasaur, Gengar, and Crobat are all nice, leaving you with room to experiment. Get that Venoshock team you've always wanted!

Right off the top of my head, I remember that no Bug-type has ever learned Surf.

Gen 6 was very kind to Normal-types, despite turning quite a few of the better ones into Fairies...

Diggersby, Pyroar, and Heliolisk make for a great team core. You'll need at least one Flying-type, probably, and from there you have a lot of fun options, depending on the metagame you're playing: Smeargle, Blissey/Chansey, Porygon2, Furfrou, Lopunny, Snorlax, Slaking, Kangaskhan... even things like Wigglytuff and Audino become useful at times, due to Fairy typing.

Normal has a lot of great options. Watch out for Conkeldurr and other Fighters, especially ones with Mold Breaker.
