I know, anon. I think I just like it for nostalgic value. I played Red when I was 7 or 8, and didn't have too much interest in it. But, when Gold came out, all my friends got involved in Pokemania. It felt like we were a part of something bigger than ourselves, something global. Now, my interest in Pokemon is sorta waning desu. All my friends stopped playing long ago. Not that anon but I actually like Chesnaught a lot. A lot of people immediately hated on the Chespin line when Quilladin was revealed, but I personally loved it and knew that it'd have a good final evo that'd "excuse" the awkward design of Quilladin.
A lot of people hate Chesnaught but I feel like it delivered. It's nowhere near as bulky as Emboar or Aggron, but then again maybe it was never meant to be that way. Maybe its design is more based on enduring shit rather than provoking fights itself. Maybe that's why it looks off to you, anon?

They should have made it rarer and presented it as a mystical creature that few lay their eyes on. The pokedex tries to give it a mysterious aura but it could have been pushed a little more. It should have a similar notoriety to Abra. It should have run away and learn roar on level up. It already has a low catch rate and it's pretty rare.
It's a cool pokemon and its strangeness only adds to its mystique.

If Pokemon fandom taught me anything, it is that every character enough notorious to register on fandom's radar will inevitably have a bunch of antis who are uncomfortable with others liking it and will take active steps in an attempt to discourage such fans.
As Pokemon fandom goes, such people generally gravitate towards select few places like /vp/ or GameFAQs where they can blast their mouth at full force.
