I don't know why Team Rocket became so stupid again. Best wishes made them a lot better because they tried actual and somewhat complex plots, like when Meowth pretended he was kicked from the team and Meloetta arc. This time, they just want to get Pikachu all over again. This is pretty annoying.
And I can't stand Clemont with his inventions. His background episode was OK, but his catchphrase "The future is now, thanks to science!" and then the running gag of all his inventions exploding are pretty boring.
The only think I like in XY is Bonnie. She's like Max done right.

Sometimes with male characters I can find myself liking the tone of a character's voice, but I don't know anything else about the voice, they could be bombing and I wouldn't know it.

Yeah, the subs will tell you what you're saying, but the audio is still chingchongnipnong. I'd rather listen to a bad dub where I can better understand the tone and inflection than watch something subbed. If there's no alternative I can watch a sub okay, but a dub gives you everything a sub does with you being able to understand the actors. The only reason to pick the sub over the dub is the music.
