Gen 1 - extremely iconic and anime versions of RBY music are some of the best music scores to come out of this franchise ever

Gen VI - finally real instruments and not shitty plastic MIDIs, I like most of the route themes and unorthodox tracks like gym/Korrina battle theme

Gen IV - nice, calm and jazzy, although the battle themes could have been better
Gen II - solid all around, HGSS did a poor job at replicating the OG soundtrack though

Gen III - RSE suffers from GBA soundfont and couple of bad tracks, ORAS redeems the soundtrack a bit though
Gen V - route music is decent but it has couple of annoying/bad tracks like low HP, gym leader last pokemon, PWT finals, game sync theme, random matchup theme etc.

Also, this is really good taste. I'd switch HGSS and Gen V but this is fine.

Unlike most I think HGSS remixes are fantastic. And Safari Zone gate is one of the all time best city/town tracks.

Gen 4 did not utilize the DS properly soundwise and it all sounded like farting into a tin. Not to mention the Sinnoh soundtrack didn't even fit the tone of Pokemon, it would be more welcoming in a game like Harvest Moon or Animal Crossing, not Pokemon.
