The faded maroon is more true to concept art, isn't it? Pic related. Though, it seems that the colour tends to vary from the maroon to the red to something in between (eg. from the concept art to the Dream World to the anime; TCG has a bit from all three categories)I think both the red and maroon look just fine, but the red is definitely superior.

80% of Gen 5 designs are fine. More like a representation that the majority isn't as shit as you say.
My favorite Gen V mon. Nothing wrong with it. Game Freak hit it out of the park with design, stats, and moveset.

This is one of the few gen V designs I'd not be surprised to see in gen I. And I'm not even a genwunner.
Absolutely nothing, I love this thing. Only Pokemon I intentionally used in BW2 after having already used it in BW.
