Typh and Feral are both braindead simple in terms of design, which means that they're hard to fault even if they have no ambition or creativity. They're also Gen II; A gen which isn't recent, but isn't Gen I either, so it gets lots of cred points for being a bit of a rarer choice. This also means that you'll see a louder minority striving to validate their tastes here.
But yeah, i agree with you on Gen II's starters being the most underwhelming Starters. At least they're not flat-out shit like Gen V's starters.

Sceptile I hate for similar reasons. I think his final evo design is garbage as well as Treecko design but I think Grovyle and the mega are top tier. He gets shilled almost as badly as Grenigger in the gen 3 anime and in the current one, as well as in ORAS promotions. I dont genuinely hate him but hes like my least favorite.
