Also I wanna skip the conversation ahead a few points by saying that yeah Luxray doesn't actually look much like a lynx. What I think Luxray is is simply a stylized big cat of nothing in particular.
There's a little bit of lion in there but visually I don't think it's supposed to be anything. Concept-wise it's most definitely a lynx.
