shit, I just learned that Tyranitar, Volcarona and Hydreigon are based on Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah. Is there anything else in giant Japanese monster movies that ought to be pokémon?

Fun fact: Pokemon was partially inspired by Ultraman (specifically Ultraseven), and Ultraman in turn was got a spin off inspired by pokemon and digimon (Ultra Galaxy Mega Monster Battle).
