Its design is only okay, and it's seemingly every anime-exclusive Pokémon fan's go-to favorite. It's also everywhere in the games and anime, and it had basically its own movie - I distinctly remember playing a match on PS! during gen 5 where some autismo started rattling off about how it's his favorite Pokémon and that it's the only legendary to evolve from something.
tl;dr it has an aura of cancer around it.

Few points to make here
1. Mostly cuz when i first saw it. It was any old regular poke. But i started noticing GF was pushing it hard. It was a "wtf?" Moment for a few years. To me its like picking a random number in the dex and then pushing it hard.
2. Secondly its a pornstar, homosexuals and bisexual furries obssess and sexualize it, wank to it, dress up as it and copulate in full costume, its literal cringe manifest into reality.
3. The rampant lucario porn scene is rampant. moreso than lopunny or gardevoir.
4. Not only is it cringe its also one of the top 3 edgiest mons. It can see your aura? Really. The edge is through the roof with this mon. "I only listen to strong trainers because i can see their aura of power"
5.all of this wouldnt be so bad but its shoved in your face for no apparent reason. Its in every pokemon game like pokken, its in smash and almost replaced mewtwo for no good reason and im forced to be reminded of gay cringe and edginess by battling with it in bw2 and then again in XY. Screencap this when burst evolution becomes a thing. GF will force you to fuse with a lucario in Gen 8 if not gen 7.
6. Yes im looking for a licario that is proud of its power.

Some people will always hate storyline required/powerful/dogish/blue Pokémon. Then, like any fan base, there will always be those that large group of nerds that hate whatever the majority of the young/furry/casual fan base likes. Lucario is super popular with the young kid, casual and furry crowd, so he really irks those "hate stuff based on other people's opinion on stuff" types.

Personally I dislike it for its weakness to other fighting types. All its background and all its hype portrayed it as this ultimate warrior, even mystery dungeon blue and red had location rank as the ultimate rank you could achieve... and yet it can't take a punch

Bots didn't show up until the second round where some footfag rigged the results
You can't hug him but in turn his spikes are a an extremely weird form of self defense so no one gets too close to do harm.
