The Kanto map and this unused Gen 2 map are obviously done by the same artist. The "Mount Itoi" from Mother doesn't even match up with this Gen 2 beta region's mountain.

That's ridiculous, Mother came out in 1989, that's way before Pokemon even existed. There are even interviews of Masuda talking about the unused Gen 2 region based on California.
