It's good to see that some of you have accepted the fact that Amour isn't building up to anything.
All things considered dub Hoopa movie wasn't that bad. I'll still watch it subbed too and I certainly don't feel like I've "tainted my first impression of the film" like the memers here think.

Serena had nothing going for her. She was basically a hikki who had no future and her mother was just worried. Rhyhorn Racing was probably the only thing Grace could think of that would help her stop being idle. It's not abuse its basic parenting.
Serena was sassy with her mother because she balked at the Rhyhorn Race training she gave her. That's the only thing she could do to show her frustration in her station in life because she a was a NEET that loved fashion but got bored in doing anything else.
Notice how after her mother accepted her goal after seeing her being determined to beat her in a race that her mother was better in she became less sassy with her and now accepted her fashion choice aka the dress she got from her which she uses three times already.

Serena basically has the personality of easily giving up on things she doesn't like or that she messes up on without giving it a second chance. She's always disliked rhyhorn racing from the looks of it, especially when her mother is the champ and expects you to be just as great. It puts a lot of pressure on her and she develops the sassy attitude towards her mother. It's when Ash changes her to never give up till the very end and work hard to accomplish her goal.
