So, real talk /vp/, look at this.
I used to believe Popplio was going to be water/fighting for sure, but today we recieved new information on Popplio's moveset, and really struck me, I mean, disharming voice???
At first I though, maybe it's like one of those move a lot of random shit get, regardless of the type, like bite being dark, or sand attack being ground, etc.
But the distribution of this move just seems....different from those cases. So, is popplio becoming a fairy type???
The director said they really put a lot of emphasis on the animation, and the way Popplio stands just SHOUTS a dual typing by how it stands so rightfuly, be it fighting or fairy siren-like.
The only mons that learn the move are either:
>Fairy type
>Related to cuteness/beauty
>Espurr (literally the only exception)
>Become fairy type
So, popplio first stage isn't fairy, so we can rule that one out
It's not related to beauty or cuteness (it's little, but that's about it), his stance may reflect pride, but it's not a creature CARACTERIZED by beauty
It's not espurr
Lastly, no water or fighting pokemon learn the move.

Also, it would make sense that the creators would want to redeem the mess that are fairy-type monsters on gen VI by making a starter one.

Great work checking the distro anon.
Water/Fairy confirmed.
So how does that play design wise into what Popplio is? It's a clown juggler, so where does it go from here?
>>26743524
Maybe turn into a beautiful, singing mermaid or something. Maybe a sea shell or starfish in the hair. Some pearl details. Mermaid midrift...
>>26743524
Mr. Mime is fairy too...
I see three possibilities:
>It evolves to be a fairy type, possibly like Mr. Mime
>It evolves to be cute/beautiful/Milotic-esque
>Both
>>26743397
Espurr learning it is part of its gimmick, where people pretend it is cute despite being as ugly as ever living FUCK
>>26743524
>So how does that play design wise into what Popplio is? It's a clown juggler, so where does it go from here?
>Make Mr.Mime a pinniped
>????
>PROFIT!!!
>>26743397
To play devil's advocate, why can't it be another exception?
>>26743653
Because you have to explain those exceptions conceptually. See >>26743576. Popplio's concept has nothing that would suggest that Disarming Voice is something related to its concept that would prove it an exception to the distro rules.
Guys, between this move and Sugimori tweeting Tiger Mask, why are you still so in denial about Mermaid Popplio and co being real? I know this is an anonymous board but you're gonna be a joke just like 5th starters denialfags
>>26743397
>no water pokemon learn the move
I see Milotic in that image
>>26743684
What is >>26743576 based on? The pokedex entry doesn't say anything along those lines.
Popplio looks like a circus performer. That could be thematic for Disarming Voice.
>>26743571
I share your point of view, anon. I don't want but I can see it happening.
>>26743872
I literally derped, I started writing that line as an afterthough with the fighting type in mind, I just threw the water typing too without thinking.
>>26743875
How is a circus performer thematic for Disarming Voice?
It looks like cute cats get it. That is the only possible way that I can see it being on Espurr since Skitty gets it too.
>>26744052
Because it's said to be a charming attack that does emotional damage. Performances in general make you feel emotions.
It's tenuous, but I think it's more logical than Espurr having it. Skitty has Cute Charm and is a popular pokemon.

You're basing this on the distribution is a move that was only just introduced in gen 6? Why on earth wouldn't they start distributing it to more mons?
