Games take place in either Period A or Period B. They follow a back and forth pattern along the generations, with the exception of B2/W2 which made two shifts in one gen.
Period A: FRLG(1)=ORAS(3)=BW(5)=XY(6)
Period B: HGSS(2)=DPPt(4)=B2W2(5a)=SuMo(7)
So I am guessing it takes place in the B period.

So this is all pretty much untrue. The series takes place over a continuous range of time, not at two discrete periods. For example, we know from in-game dialogue that BW takes place after HGSS, but you have it as before. I think the timeline is usually considered to be something like the following (with remakes at the same time as the originals):
RBY/RSE -- GSC/DPP -- BW -- BW2 -- XY
I think there's been some suggestion that BW2 and XY take place simultaneously, but there's no in-game confirmation.

RGBY -> GSC
FRLG = RSE -> HGSS = DPPt -> BW -> BW2
Pokemon Origins -> ORAS -> XY
Where SM takes place along there is anyone's guess
